Bronze struck medal with obverse showing view of volcano Mount Momotombo rising from Lake Managua with palm trees; legend: "NICARAGUAN CAMPAIGN/ 1912". Reverse shows eagle with wings spread and holding anchor in talons, with oak and laurel below; legend: "UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS/ FOR/ SERVICE." Transverse loop fused at top; medal hangs from pinback on red and blue striped grosgrain ribbon.

The U.S. Marine Corps Nicaraguan campaign military medal was authorized in 1913. It was awarded to enlisted men and officers of U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps who served in Nicaragua in August-November of 1912, suppressing revolution.
