Framed fragments of green wallpaper from Mount Vernon; four small fragments of green wallpaper with newspaper clipping; "G.Washington as a Wallpaper hanger..."

The fragments of green wallpaper are probably from the "New Room" or large dining room, that was added to Mount Vernon in the 1780s. The clipping that accompanies the paper, which reports that Washington himself, aided by the Marquis de Lafayette, his aide-de-camp, and Martha, hung the paper, is probably a myth.
