Copper-plated pewter struck medal with obverse showing clothed bust of Abraham Lincoln facing right with legend: "LUCKY PENNY" and date "1927" to the right of bust. Reverse depicts the Capitol Building in central roundel inscribed "CAPITOL" below and surrounded by laurel wreath; legend: "SOUVENIR/OF/ WASHINGTON/D.C."

Medals known as "lucky pennies" have been sold at souvenir stands from 1913 to the present. Most of these pieces picture heads of Native Americans or a bust of Abraham Lincoln, as does this example.
