According to the donor, this piece of the brocade is a fragment of the wedding dress of Mary Noel (1743-1828), who married Anthony Lispenard Bleecker (1741-1816) in New York City in 1763. The donor was the great-granddaughter of Mary Noel Bleecker.

Mary Noel (1743-1828), who married Anthony Lispenard Bleecker (1741-1816); to their daughter Abigail Bleecker (1779-1861), who married Dr. John Neilson III (1775-1857); to their daughter Julia Neilson (1811-1878), who married Charles Addison Bulkeley (1808-1886); to their daughter Ellen Lorraine Bulkeley (1851-1921), who married Dr. Guy Carleton Bayley (1850-1921).
