The North Barrack from which this early nineteenth-century view was taken was erected at the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1817 and was demolished in 1851. A pen-and-ink sketch of the barrack, 1827, by James Barnes (1801-1869) is owned by the Society (X.327). "Mr. Pemberton" may be John Clifford Pemberton (ca. 1814-1881), who graduated from the Academy in 1837.
