Winter hat with soft gray felt crown and visor, ear flaps, and neck band lined with gray squirrel(?) fur; silver colored metal insignia with stylized eagle above a disk embossed with a swastika pins visor to front of crown; quilted gray textile lining.

According to the accession records, this type of hat was used above all by German aviators during World War II, but was issued to all troops in winter campaigns. This example was sent to the donor by Sergeant James J. Treble, Jr.
