The New-York Historical Society is offering for sale, at $100 each, a small group of library chairs, formerly used in the Reading Room of the New-York Historical Society. Close copies of the original 1907 chairs, these were manufactured in New York City by the firm of Michael Reischmann & Sons when the New-York Historical Society’s building was expanded.
A good gift for scholars or readers who have fond memories of doing research in the Library, these solid oak chairs show some wear but are sturdy and usable. They were replaced in 2011, during the renovation of the Society.
