Description
Silver and ebony toasting fork with three tapered tines, a molded baluster stem and a conical handle socket with molded ring on the end; socket fitted with a partial turned wooden handle.

stamped on the base of the tines: "W F" in a rectangle
Gallery Label
Although the handle has been identified as made of ebony, the donor claimed that the handle remnant was made of bog oak from the swamp north of Collect Pond in lower Manhattan. The fork was originally attributed to John Moulinar of New York City, but the mark cannot be linked to him. The "W F" mark has not been identified.
