Gift of Miss Grace Morgan
According to the accession records, this chair belonged to the donor's mother's family, the Bassetts of New Haven, CT. The chair and its mate were probably purchased by Miss Morgan's grandfather, Benjamin Franklin Bassett. This chair may have originally been a side chair, to which arms were added at a later date.
