Description
Painted six-board chest with front and back sloping outward from top to bottom; front and back boards rabbeted to receive ends, and nailed; lift top with end battens; front painted with two floral medallions on reddish-brown background; images inside medallions obscured; two interior storage tills; wrought iron handles, oval lock plate, and strap hinges.

According to the accession records, this sea chest is believed to have been owned by Captain Increase Holly, son of John Holly, who came from England and settled in Stamford, Connecticut in 1642. The Hollys are ancestors of the donor.
