Description 
Bronze struck medallion with obverse depicting nude male figure in loincloth with winged horse. Reverse depicts scroll at center with engraved inscription: "ELIHU ROOT/1936"; burning oil lamp beneath; surrounding legend: ".PRESENTED.BY.THE.CARNEGIE.CORPORATION." Circular loop for suspension attached at center top.

Gallery Label 
Elihu Root (1845-1937) was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1912. He served as Secretary of War under McKinley and Roosevelt (1899-1903) and as Secretary of State under Roosevelt (1905-1909). From 1909- 1915 he was a Republican Senator from New York.
