Description
Colorless pattern-molded lead glass sugar bowl and cover with cobalt blue decoration;globular body with short, curved galleried rim pattern-molded in rows of eleven diamonds, applied band of cobalt blue glass at rim, and applied pedestal foot with pontil mark; cover of domed form flared at base with downward folded edge; pattern-molded in rows of eleven diamonds with applied cobalt blue finial with pontil mark on top.

Stylistically, this sugarbowl resembles examples made in England and America, 1825-1845, though its use of colorless lead glass, the rare applied cobalt blue finial and rim, the lack of wear on the lid and rim and the suspiciously tidy, even ring of wear on the base suggest that it might be a twentieth-century fake.
