each: 7 1/2 x 3 1/2 in. ( 19 x 8.9 cm )
Pair of amethyst pressed lead glass vases; elongated conical shape with fluted rim and six panels around sides, each containing a raised circle above a loop; hollow base with hexagonal knop and foot.
Bequest of Mrs. F. MacDonald Sinclair (Jennie H. Sinclair)
These vases may be twentieth-century reproductions of a mid-nineteenth-century pattern. (Note: Vases such as these reproduced in "American and European Pressed Glass in The Corning Museum of Glass" (p. 230) are said to date from after 1875 because they have been pressed in one piece.)
