Description
Colorless and colored blown glass darning egg or whimsey; hollow cylindrical shaft with small spherical finial at one end and large spherical knob at other; made of colorless, yellow, green, and red canes of glass that create vertical bands of color on the shaft and blobs of color on the knob; interior of entire piece is filled or coated with opaque white powdery substance.

Gallery Label
This object was once part of the folk art collection of Elie Nadelman (1882-1946), the avant-garde sculptor. From 1924 to 1934, Nadelman's collection was displayed in his Museum of Folk Arts, located in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. The Historical Society purchased Nadelman's entire collection in 1937.
