Clockwork toy with two black dancing figures mounted on varnished wooden box with decal representing bust of a woman pasted on front; figures have composition heads and carved wooden bodies jointed at shoulders, hips, knees, and ankles; both figures wear skirts made of satin and lace, and one has a lace cap; vertical metal rods between legs connect figures to clockwork mechanism inside box.
This toy, patented by William L. Hubbell of New York City on February 17, 1874, was produced by several manufacturers.
