Description
Tin-glazed earthenware tile with painted blue and white decoration; buff-colored body with bluish-white glaze; elaborate border with diapering and foliate scrolls (the "Louis XV border with diaper corners") frames octagonal landscape scene with two gothic buidldings separated by a bridge with a ship's mast in the background; right edge chipped.

These tiles are from a fireplace in the Judge Joseph I. Jackson House at the corner of Jackson Ave. and Main St., Fishkill, NY. The house, which at one time was called the "Colonial Inn," was still standing in 1953.
