Description
Fragment of tin-glazed earthenware tile with painted blue and white decoration; buff-colored body with bluish-white glaze; elaborate border with feathered quarter-flowers in the corners and elaborate foliate scrolls (the "Louis XV border") frames octagonal landscape scene with ship in background and tower in forground; bottom half of tile gone.

These tiles are from a fireplace in the Judge Joseph I. Jackson House at the corner of Jackson Ave. and Main St., Fishkill, NY. The house, which at one time was called the "Colonial Inn," was still standing in 1953.
