Description
Child's maple Shaker side chair with tilting balls installed in sockets in the base of rear legs; ladder back with three slats and round stiles with acorn-shaped finials; trapezoidal rush seat; turned legs tapering slighly at bottom with two rounded stretchers in front and at either side, and one rounded stretcher in back.

According to the accession records, this chair was used in the school room of a Shaker settlement in Enfield, Connecticut. It was purchased by the donor from the community in 1913.
