Maple, Queen Anne side chair; straight back with yoke-shaped crest, turned stiles, and vase-shaped splat (possibly cherry); trapezoidal rush seat with corner blocks; turned front legs with pad feet, turned front stretcher with two balls and reel, four plain side stretchers and one plain rear stretcher.

This chair is typical of chairs produced in New York in the 18th and early 19th century. Also known as Hudson Valley chairs, York chairs, and Dutch chairs, they would have originally been painted red or black. This chair has been stripped and possibly disassembled and restored, and was re-rushed 1983.
