Male, breeding plumage. A Texas Horned Lizard (Phrynosoma cornutum), was inserted into Havell plate no. 386, Great Egret, from a watercolor vignette in the lower left corner of 1863.17.372, Swainson's Hawk.
Purchased for the Society by public subscription from Mrs. John J. Audubon
