Pair of Chippendale brass andirons; cast in four parts: flame finial on faceted knob, vase-shaped mid-section with spiral ribbing, molded rectangular base, and (2) spurred cabriole legs with ball and claw feet; iron log rest.

According to the accession records, the donor acquired these andirons from her mother, who received them ca. 1875-1880 from her brother, Horatio Seymour (1810-1886), governor of New York from 1853-55 and 1863-65.
