Description
Waistcoat with silk paisley brocade of red, blue, and yellow threads on a navy ground; rolled collar dropped into ovoid lapels over five silk brocade covered buttons; brown cotton chintz lining and back panel; chintz belt and metal two pronged buckle at lower back to cinch garment.

This waistcoat belonged to Francis Robert Rives, Esq., father of the donor. Mr. Rives was Secratary of the Legation in London from 1842 to 1844. He was appointed by President John Tyler.
