Lithographed cotton Centennial U.S. flag with "1776/ 1876" indicated by seventy-six (thiry-eight each) white stars in a blue canton; thirteen red and white stripes; white cotton hoist with three cotton ties at the ends and in the center.

This flag was made for the Centennial celebration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1876. Both the "1776" and "1876" are made of 38 stars, the number officially valid for U.S. flags at the time of the celebration.
