The donor of this lamp recalls seeing it around 1890 in the living room of his mother's mother, Mrs. Frances Augusta (Beals) Baker (1815-1897) in her apartment on the southwest corner of 56th Street and Park Avenue. The lamp may have been owned originally by her mother and father, William Beals (1785-1870) and his wife, Dorothy Whitney Beals (1797-1876) of Boston, MA.
