Description
Molded pearlware plate with dark blue transfer print of Park Theatre and the "Entrance of the Canal into the Hudson at Albany"; rim of plate has oak leaf and acorn transfer print with four medallion portraits at top of Jefferson, Lafayette, Clinton, and Washington; at bottom of rim is view of the entrance to the Erie Canal at Albany; central image is a New York street scene showing the Park Theatre.

The Park Theatre was built on Park Row in 1797-98. At the beginning of the nineteenth century the Park Theatre dominated dramatic activity in New York City and offered dramatic fare for patrons of all classes.
