Description
Brass arched band spurs with a split rectangle goads with a spiked wheel in the center; two barbell shaped weights hung from a brass loop on the side of the goads; brass buckle with a button above on the ends of the bands; chain boot straps attached to the buckles; leather boot straps attached to the buttons (only one extant).

These spurs were worn by Colonel Wickham Hoffman, Assistant Adjutant-General on General William Sherman's staff in 1862 and Adjutant-General and Chief of Staff to Major-General Canby in 1865. He was wounded at Port Hudson and Mansfield.
