This horse bit was excavated by the Field Exploration Committee at the British camp on the Dyckman farm, between Seaman and Payson Avenues and 204th Street, in Washington Heights. The horse that wore this bit was owned by a British or Hessian officer, or was used to transport artillery and supplies.
