Gallery Label
This tea and coffee service was presented by the firemen of the City of New York to Zophar Mills, on his retirement from the Volunteer Fire Department on August 8, 1853. The service cost one thousand dollars and was paid for by the firemen themselves. It was presented to him at a special meeting in Fireman's Hall, by a Mr. Adam P. Pentz. Zophar Mills was the father of the donor.
