Description
Brass cross-belt plate; oval-shaped with two studs on back; regiment name engraved at top and bottom of oval; in center is British crown flanked on left by thistle and on right by acorn.

Gallery Label
This cross-belt plate was excavated by the Field Exploration Committee at Fort George, a British fort at Niagara-on-the-Lake on the Niagara River in Ontario, Canada. Built in 1795, the fort was captured by American forces on May 27, 1813, and occupied by them until December. The plate was probably worn by a private of the Canadian Fencible Infantry Regiment at the point on his chest where his cross-belts intersected.
