Description
Wrought and seamed silver coffeepot; round in plan with straight sides, seamed under the handle; tapered from applied, molded footring to applied molded lip; hinged, domed lid with a plain flange lip and cast knop finial; eight-sided s-curve spout, at a right angle to the handle, with a scrolled and notched lip; cylindrical handle sockets fitted with a double-scroll wooden handle; engraved with the Hume family arms, a shield in the front center with two lions rampant, one upper left, one lower right, a cross in the lower left and three birds in the upper right; shield surmounted by the De Peyster crest, an armored dexter arm holding a sword; all surround by a geometric and scroll cartouche; maker's marks stamped right of the handle.
