Description
Cast and seamed silver mug; cylindrical body with molded midband and molded base band on a circular pedestal with an applied foliate heart band; applied, plain rim; cast s-scroll handle crimped in the center around a plain ring; engraved on the upper front, "M. L. Satterlee." in script; makers' marks on the base.

Inscriptions: engraved upper center-front: "M. L. Satterlee." in script.
Description: Upper center-front engraved in script "M.L. Satterlee." has been related to Mary L. Catlin [or Caitlin?] Satterlee, who is believed to have been owner of mug. Mug apparently was engraved upon her marriage to Bishop Henry Satterlee of New York (see accession file).
Maker's marks: stamped in relief on the base: "H. H. & CO" in a rectangular surround below a bust in a chamfered rectangle, "D" in a chamfered rectangle, spread eagle in a chamfered rectangle below "ALBANY"

This mug belonged to Mary L. Catlin. The inscription was added when she married Bishop Henry Y. Satterlee of New York.
