Description
Molded oval pearlware platter with irregularly scalloped edge; transfer-printed decoration in brown with central vignette of victorious uniformed horseman with sword raised amidst battle; border with scalloped strapwork edge with military trophies, flower and female allegorical figures.

Gallery Label
The "Texian Campaign" represents a battle in the Mexican War. The initials "J.B." may refer to James Broadhurst of Longton (and later Fenton), Staffordshire, who used this underglaze mark from 1862 to 1870.
