Description
Silk painted flag of the Third Company, Third Connecticut Regiment, with a silver sword, green "III" and a green garland tied with a red ribbon painted in the lower left corner extending into the center on a white ground; tan linen sleeve for the flagstaff.

This company flag or "guidon" belonged to the Third Connecticut Regiment, commanded by Samuel Blachley Webb (1753-1807), grandfather of the donor. The flag, used from 1781 to 1783, is an extremely rare survival from the Revolutionary War.
