Molded pearlware plate decorated with a blue and white transfer printed image of a mansion perched on a cliff in the mountains and figure on aroad near the house in foreground and surrounded by a shell border. (Larsen, 3rd ed., no. 34)

Gallery Label
Thomas Cole's painting, "View of the Catskill Mountain House, New York," inspired this scene. Several Staffordshire potters reproduced engravings of the Catskill Mountain House, a popular resort perched on a ledge overlooking the Hudson Valley. The original name of the inn was Pine Orchard House.
