engraved: in the reserve: the arms of the Banks family, a griffin on fess stamped: to the right of the handle on the shoulder: "JA" in roman letters in a rectangle beside a lion passant in a chamfered rectangle, a leopard's head in a shield, "i" in a chamfered rectangle and the king's bust in an oval.
