Description
Dark blue wool felt officer's cap with rigid, cylindrical crown with flat top, and black patent leather visor; chin strap made of fine gold braid (now broken), secured at either side by a button embossed with New York State shield; NYS shield also embroidered on front of cap.

According to the accession records, this cap was worn by the donor's husband, Henry Wolff (1873-1950), who served as lieutenant and later as captain in the 108th Regiment, National Guard New York (1892-1898). Wolff's uniform jacket and trousers are also in the N-YHS Collection.
