Shako with rigid, cylindrical black felt crown that is tapered and angled forward; flat black patent leather top and patent leather visor which is flat and somewhat rectangular; black patent leather chin strap secured at either side by a gilded metal button embossed with crossed cannon; gilded metal National Guard N.Y. shield affxed center upper edge of front; leather lining with lacing; pompon and front insignia plate missing.
