Description
Olive drab wool service cap with brown leather visor and chin strap; gilded metal insignia consisting of shield-breasted eagle surmounted by banner and disk with thirteen stars; chin strap secured at either side by a button embossed with similar motif.

According to the accession records, this cap was part of the everyday winter uniform of the donor, Paul H. Downing, a lieutenant-colonel in the U.S. Army Air Corps and commanding officer of the Rochester (NY) Region Materiel Command during World War II.
