The Amigo Protector was a Portuguese vessel on which the de Neuvilles sailed from New York in May 1814 on their return journey to Europe. Montauk Point, at the eastern end of Long Island, was the last land seen on the American coast. The de Neuvilles disembarked at Liverpool, England, on July 8. Two days later they were in London and "a few days" later in Paris.
