Description
Brass bugle with one slide, bell with rolled rim, and two rings to which light olive green braid and two tassels are tied; etched inscription below stamped maker's mark on outside of bell.

According to the accession records, this bugle was used by regimental trumpeter R. I. Clapham while serving in the 1st U.S. Cavalry at the Battle of Santiago, Cuba, in 1898. The inscription indicates that it was presented to Colonel Daniel Appellton on July 1, 1898.
