Description
Wood, iron, steel, and brass percussion dueling pistol; brown-finished octagon barrel with bladed brass front sight and rear sight at tang; iron furniture with ornate trigger guard and engraved scrolls on bow, hammer, lockplate, breech, barrel tang, and side plate; oval brass wedge estucheons and shield-shaped estucheon plate; raised carving at tip of stock; checkered handle with oval plate on butt.

According to accession records, this dueling pistol was owned by the donor's great-grandfather, Dominick Lynch, a merchant and founder of Rome, New York who became a celebrated traveler in France during the 1820's.
