Dark blue wool Artillery officer's dress single-breasted coat; 2" closed stand-up collar (2 sets hooks and eyes); 8 plastic buttons down the front (hidden when fastened); lieutenant's shoulder straps with red ground; closed sleeves, no cuffs; 4 panels across the back; shallow split at the bottom of the side seams; all outer edges trimmed with 2" black silk lacing; coat lined with dark blue cotton, sleeves lined with white silk, vertical slit pocket on the left.

This dress coat was worn by Charles C. Warren when he served as 2nd Lieutenant of the 1st Field Artillery, New York National Guard.
