This is the original study for the poster illustration advertising the run of the four-horse public coach "Liberty" between New York and Lakewood, New Jersey, from March 31 to May 15, 1903. The coach was built by Guiet of Paris for James Hazen Hyde (1876-1959), a coaching enthusiast who maintained the run. The Society also has a series of twelve watercolors of the "Liberty" by Max Francis Klepper (1861-1907), who was commissioned by Mr. Hyde to depict scenes on the coach run (1960.28-39).
