Cast and wrought silver presentation fruit bowl; deep, circular bowl with an everted, lobed and waved rim; egg and dart band applied around the rim; interior of the bowl gilt; bowl applied to a high, domed circular pedestal with four cast trefoil and scroll feet and scroll decoration applied around the bottom; bowl engraved with the Perry family crest, an anchor on fess below a hind's head, on one side and the inscription, "Presented to Commodore/ Matthew Calbraith Perry/ by the Chamber of Commerce and/ Merchants of New York." in script on the other side; makers' marks stamped on the base.
