Gallery Label
This portrait was made while Bryant was still a young man, not long after he had assumed his editorial position with the New York Evening Post. There are two engravings by G. Parker after this portrait in the Print Room of the Society; one appeared originally in the New York Mirror and the other in the U.S. Magazine and Democratic Review in 1842.
