Description
Pair of silver and gilt egg spoons with twisted stems with foliate medallions with cherub's head finials; ovoid and foilate joints; pear-shaped bowls; maker's marks stamped on the underside of the stems.

Gallery Label
Donor records suggested that these spoons belonged to Martha Washington. However, hallmarks indicate a later date of production. According to D. Albert Soeffing, hallmarks are related to Danish silversmith Simon Christian Schiotz Groth, active 1863-1904.
