Police chest protector in light blue nylon casing with large rectangular pocket at front center; twelve bullet holes in front labeled in blue ink with calibers of impacting bullets; two velcro pads on reverse.

Gallery Label
The donor, Edward Norris, is a former New York City police officer. This bullet-proof vest is typical of the vests worn by everyday uniform officers who patrol the city's streets. This particular example was used at the Police Academy to test various sizes of ammunition, which are labeled on the front. This type of armor was made to slip into a cloth vest worn by the officer; some officers also wear another smaller shield inside as well.
