Delano was awarded a diploma in architecture in 1903 from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and upon his return to the United States formed a partnership with Chester Holmes Aldrich. The firm designed, among other buildings, the Rockefeller mansion at Pocantico Hills, New York, the American embassy in Paris, and the Japanese embassy in Washington, D.C. The bronze is at the Lawrenceville School, N.J.
