Gallery Label
This portrait was made in the first year of Lincoln's presidency, and was the original used for the Lincoln-Indian Peace Medal. It was presented by the sculptor to the Metropolitan Fair held in 1864 at the 14th Street Armory in New York for the benefit of the sick and wounded men of the Union Army.
