In the early 1800s he edited the "Literary Magazine and American Register," a political and literary monthly published in Philadelphia. This bronze medallion portrait was one of two cast by the sculptor. The original was made for a literary club in Philadelphia and the duplicate was presented by the sculptor to the donor.
